Les Symingtons, d'origine écossaise, anglaise et portugaise, sont producteurs de porto dans le nord du Portugal depuis 1882. Depuis 5 générations, ils allient leur passion pour la production de vins fins et de ports à un profond engagement envers les terres et les habitants de la région. Aujourd'hui, dix Symington travaillent dans leurs quatre maisons de porto : Graham’s, Cockburn’s, Dow’s et Warre’s, ainsi que dans leurs marques de vin du Douro – Quinta do Vesúvio, Quinta do Ataíde, Altano, Prats & Symington (célèbre pour Chryseia), et Vértice (l'un des meilleurs vins mousseux du Portugal). Ils produisent également du vin à Quinta da Fonte Souto dans l'Alto Alentejo, à Casa de Rodas à Monção & Melgaço, et à Hambledon au Royaume-Uni grâce à une coentreprise.
Symington Family Estates est le principal producteur de porto haut de gamme au monde et cultive la plus grande superficie de vignoble de premier choix (classé « A ») dans la vallée du Douro, avec 26 Quintas (domaines) couvrant 2 462 hectares et 1 114 hectares de vignoble.
